Qualification Requirements to Test Traceability Matrix (RTTM)
The Code Bodies provided Requirement to Test Traceability Matrix (RTTM) templates for each non-Systems Integration Testing (SIT) Party type to support the assessment of testing activity. They clarify minimum requirements for test execution in Pre-Integration Testing (PIT) and set out expectations for Qualification Testing (QT) as well as any evidence that must be provided e.g. to support the Qualification Assessment Document (QAD) submission. Parties are required to complete the template to show that all tests have been executed and to provide evidence of this.
The RTTM provides traceability back to requirements across the different stages of Qualification (PIT, QT and QAD) and ensures that there is appropriate test coverage. It covers Functional, Migration, non-Functional and Operational requirements and supports agreement of Placing Reliance arrangements. Code Bodies assure the RTTM for Non-SIT Suppliers, Non-SIT Agents and new entrant Licensed Distribution System Operators (LDSOs).
The templates are working documents for Programme participants, so we expect participants to update and submit this document multiple times to support their progress through MHHS Qualification. For non-SIT Programme participants, we expect that they will submit this document to support PIT entry, PIT exit, QT entry and QT exit.
The main difference between the PIT and QT sections are that participants need to map their PIT Test Scenarios, whilst Code Bodies map the QT Test Scenarios to requirements.
You can find the RTTM templates in the library below. You can view the PIT deliverables timeline of when they are due to be shared with the Programme and Code Bodies below:
Non-SIT Qualification PIT Deliverables Timelines
The timeline shows all the deliverables by participant (LDSO/Non-SIT Supplier/Non-SIT Agent) and we strongly encourage participants to review this document alongside reviewing the RTTM templates to understand when the deliverables are due.
Supplier and Agent RTTMs
In November 2024, the Code Bodies issued updated RTTM Templates for Suppliers, Unmetered Supplies Data Service (UMSDS), Smart Data Services (SDS) and Advanced Metering Services (ADS).
The updates were minor and included:
- Corrections to one of the Non-Functional Requirements across all four artefacts
- Adding additional Migration requirements into the Supplier RTTM
- Populating the entry criteria for the Qualification Testing column for Non-Functional and Migration requirements within the SDS RTTM, as well as updating one of the Functional requirements
- Minor update to ensure alignment with the Balancing & Settlement Code (BSC) and the Retail Energy Code (REC) Assessment Criteria
In October 2025, the Code Bodies updated the ADS RTTM Template to version 1.7 to reflect changes to ADS Functional requirements MHHS-BR-DR-139 and 139.1.
Participants who already submitted their final RTTM are not required to resubmit at this stage but must review and confirm to the Code Bodies via the Qualification mailbox if any changes are required.
All future submissions should be uplifted to the new version before sending to the Qualification mailbox.
If you have any questions about these templates, please email the Code Bodies at MHHSQualification@elexon.co.uk
